Cuisine and Culture  ~ Uzes Cooking school

 Sunday 4th to 11th June 2017

SUNDAY - On arrival at Avignon TGV Train Station, you will be transfer to your accommodation, a beautiful Mas on the outskirts of Uzes, where you will have time to settle in, explore the property and familiarize yourselves. Predinner drinks and an introduction in the summer room at 7pm - a chance to meet fellow guests, your hosts, and Mathew Harris of Bibendum Restaurant in London, our wonderful chef for the week.  Dinner is prepared by Chef.
MONDAY - After breakfast, your first lesson and the preparations begin for the week, followed by lunch in the courtyard. After lunch, we visit a truffle farm where we will have a tour and purchase truffles for dinner, and then the rest of the afternoon is at your leisure. Our evening cooking class precedes dinner.
TUESDAY - After breakfast, is our 2 hour morning cooking lesson, then off to Chateauneuf du Pape along the "Route du Vin".  We will have a tour and a tasting at Chateau Beaucastel and/or Chateau La Nerthe, two of the best wineries in Chateauneuf du Pape. Lunch will be in Chateauneuf du Pape village under the Castel, followed by a scenic tour around and up Mt Ventoux, through Gigondas and Beaume de Venise village where we will stop for a tasting. We return to our accommodation for dinner at the Mas.
WEDNESDAY - Today is market day in Uzes and after breakfast we head to the village and scout the produce market, and with baskets stocked full return to the Mas with all our produce to prepare lunch.  After lunch and a little R&R, our afternoon cooking lesson.
This evening we are entertained 'at home' - pre dinner drinks followed by dinner in the courtyard and live entertainment from local guitarists! You might even want to put your dancing shoes on!!!
THURSDAY - After breakfast, is our morning cooking lesson, and then off to explore the local river, and the wonderful Pont du Gard, with the option of kayaks and an extremely easy paddle along the river - a most wonderful as we glide beneath it. Lunch is on the banks of the river - and then we continue downriver.
Afternoon - at your leisure with time to relax, and refresh prior to dinner out at a fabulous Michelin restaurant.
FRIDAY - Breakfast and its off to Nimes for the market, with time to shop and/or visit the beautiful Roman amphitheater. Lunch in nearby Montaren at a fabulous local restaurant and your early evening cooking lesson, preceding dinner, at the Mas.
SATURDAY - Breakfast, then off to Uzes for the famous Saturday market where, at your leisure you are free to explore and enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance of the village, its castle, the medieval garden, or just shop!
Returning to the Mas in time for your afternoon cooking lesson. Our final dinner tonight, will be a formal affair.
SUNDAY - Sadly this is departure day and after a late breakfast, you will be returned to Avignon TGV for your onward journey.
